EDIT: I did do a search, but no results for darkpsy...

---------

I'm addicted to darkpsy. I'm guessing just by listening that most of the detuned ripping squelchiness comes from software synths, but does anyone know of any darkpsy producers who use hardware synths?

Here are some examples of older tracks (2005/06 I think):

These sound too fat to have been made by 5-year old software synths...I might be wrong tho'.

i think you re wrong there, synth like reaktor or logic synths are out since so long ...and are still some that have the most depth .

Personally i would rather be without a genre label slapped on my music, but i have heard of people calling my stuff for "dark" (it was simply called psytrance when i started releasing years ago)
Such as it is, i use hardware extensively and never saw much greatness in the software varieties. (few notable exceptions) I have a hard time condensing my entire way of working inside a computer and i could never trade in the sound my synths have for software ditto!           Mastering available here:

not remember if it has no vst synths at all, probably 90% of sounds are hardware.

This is not darkpsy, this is what i would call forest sounds
or just psytrance

It would be really nice if someone sorted out the concepts, just because it has a dark baseline dont mean its darkpsy, But maybe im just confusing darkpsy with terrorpsy? haha

This very subjective definition is why acts still have names! That is still one very valid way to differentiate between music why every single act gets confined to more and more specialised (yet still vague) "genre´s" i have no clue. Could be because of the horde of adoring copy cats that always crop up whenever a new cat comes to town which goes hand in hand with people wanting more of that, but not really finding it. Lots of acts that sound "almost like" and there are not so many originators who defy genre terms succesfully anymore. Millions of words in the english language and this is all we could come up with?
I have some acts i like to hear, but i honestly never spend one minute trying to define what it is they do except calling it psychedelic trance (and bloody good music) (if they use hardware that´s cool, but good music can be made banging rocks together, so hardware is secondary)           Mastering available here:

Bullshit.
vst can sound fat and hardware can sound thin, depends on the user.
Better spend one tenth of the 1500$ you were going to spend on hardware, on software (yes - obtained legally).
