On the whole, the arcadia party was great. The music had it's highs and lows. The schedule changed alot, so I'm not exactly sure what/who I was dancing to all the time.

Lestat DJ sets were so-so IMO. On and on with that grinding. His Live was alright, but these days I honestly prefer a couple Talamasca tracks in the mix than track after track (and I'm a Talamsca fan).

If dark Soho is a 3-member group with a guitarist, than I wasn't too thrilled with their start anyway. The DJ that preceded them (who?) was quite enjoyable, but I got on an "oh-my-god-is-this-ever-fucking-cheesy" trip about the stage and the whole situation (including myself). Then these kinda aging, overweight, sloppily-dressed guys came on the stage. The guitarist went into this big loud metal solo guitar riff, and he stopped and there was silence. He seemed to look around and then did it again. Followed again by silence. This time he was looking more intently over at the other dudes. 3rd try followed yet again by silence. All the dudes were looking at each other, confused and helpless. Some other guy came on stage and started looking at the equipment with them. It was all just too much since I was already on a cheesed-out trip, so I went to sit by the fire. I guess I didn't move for a while, but I could hear the music a bit and it did sound pretty good.

Since I'm criticizing, the sound system/engineering left a whole lot to be desired and the music was often turned up way too loud so that the speakers were popping and farting and generally sounding terrible. I guess I'm spoiled from so many parties with Acoustic Sound in charge.

Okay, that seemed pretty negative. Positives, well, the venue - Nenoue Kougen - is an absolutley magical place. Cheesy as it sometimes was, the VJ show was very psychedelic and very well done. I was impressed and found myself watching the images more than usual. As for music, Neuromotor played great, killer tracks, but their transitions between songs were a little weak. DJ Boxer was also quite good and the guy just before Dark Soho (as I mentioned above) was also pretty good. Xavier came on early and I missed him. There was also a Japanese DJ after Neuromotor, but I'm not sure exactly who, and he played some really good tracks.

The best thing for me, I guess, was meeting a lot of old friends again and seeing a lot of the Nagoya/Gifu/Fukui etc people that I don't see often in Tokyo. So many beautiful people! Too bad I couldn't meet Monastic Squid yet, but we'll be groovin' on a dancefloor together somewhere down the road. Cheers!

Yeah Neuromotor was the musical highlight of the party IMO, though unfortunately I missed the first half of the set.
