Dark River is releasing its debut album “Metal Forest”, with 7 previously unreleased tracks, bringing a mature dark psychedelic trance produced in the last one year and a half by the Brazilian artist from the city of Manaus, State of Amazonas.
The project was initiated in 2006, having performed in many psychedelic festivals and events in the northern and northeastern Brazil. Dark River has also released music in many darkpsy compilations, and distributes his songs and compilations on major international stores like Itunes, Amazon, Beatspace, Psyshop just to name a few.
The concept behind this work is around the mysteries of science and technology as far as the universe is concerned, like wormholes, outer dimensions and interstellar traveling, themes that are in great concern to the artist on his personal researches for the truth.
Musically, Dark River provides astonishing and spatial atmospheres to set the hypnotic frequency in every track of this album. The heavy use of analog synthesizers is noted on every music of the album, together with intelligent structuring and charming cleanliness.
Sinister choirs and powerful/highly processed leads were also an interesting stylistic approach, letting the darkness and elegance descend upon any respectable dance floor!
Dark River is also a long time guitarist, and included acoustic guitars on the epic song “Deathtrap” for a dramatic effect with the fat and flowing basses, which along with the clean and highly defined kicks, is a characteristic throughout “Metal Forest”.
