IMO good night time psytrance is easily distinguished by the presence of Emotional content a build up to a certain feeling a mysterious soup of frequencies that question the unknown, build your tracks around this issues and you will find yourself making serious music.

Agree on the freedom u shouldn't be asking how to make the sounds maybe just the Quality of them!
Just make sounds on a music scale with a good quality and thats it! with ur thoughts only!
maybe for Synths i should say Cronox, Octopus, Zeta, Sylenth, Vanguard, Wasp, Oddity, among others.
FX: Melda prod., Blue Cat, FL effects, Fab Filter FX, Tone2 FX, Ohm Force, Waves Mercury Bundle, Izotope... and many more!
i use a lot of types of FX but not for making disaster of them i use them for getting new sounds and experiment with new thoughts!
Make what u really are inspirated to make, dont start with the idea to make darkpsy make with the idea of making music!
