Hi guys.
i am at the point i can create dark trance wint nice intension but i am not satisfied with the lead's....
i anyone full-skilled dark artist can help me hear it would be greatfull.
Vst that i can use.

and some sort of general tutorial...

try saw osc. and smash the fuck evrything in it , have some fm , cutoff mod. , pitch lfo...
for effects try use delay , bitcrusher , glitch fx , phasers , or anything u like 
for general tutorial i'd say the main idea is to make it looped and repetative in a way , yet changing and evolving , is what get u into trance state  finnaly i could put it in words for once

try several layers of variously distorted different noises, and process them with some gate\glitch plugins =), using different presets. Add some filter LFO's, or draw the automation.
Try sonalksis tbk and tbk-2 or CamelPhat for distortion and filtering... they sound very agressive=)

also having problems with coming up with good heavy leads, and its good and all what u guys are saying... but wtf is glitch fx? |

I think whats also important is keeping phrase group layers. (wtf did I mean )
Lets say you have 4 tracks of leads.
each repeating every 4 bars. but each only playing for a small segment of those 4 bars and interweaving in such a way that each lead has its own space but works together with the others.
a lead playing a delayed filtered noise on 1, a backbeat on 3 of a reversed sucking sound maybe, a noisy melodic lead on 2 and high pitched resonating bell on 4.
Each tuned to a note in the scale, all coming together into a gritty melody of layers.
The repetitiveness adds tranciness, but at the same time adds a hint of slowness and restraint which I think is very important to a dark track.(then you can ofcourse decrease the loop time for more intense energy sections) |

wow, this glitch thing is way awesome... even too awesome...
anyways i wanted to ask about a specific dark lead, the heavy dark guitar kindzaza always uses like the ones in annihalation, u got any idea bout that? sounds alittel like a pulse with alil FM low pitched and decay on cutoff... but i tried it and got too far away... any ideas what it is? |

1 of the most common used methods is gator + GOOD material from synth.if u use vsti better try higher pitched sounds (you can try high fm level and low octave as well), then automate lfo or mod env, add filter and shape it witch the amplifier it sounds ok on most of the synths in oposition to the lower saws, wchich could sound good but its extreamly difficult to make it on any vst for some reason..well, maybe except absynth 3 or 4 but this synth is not easy to program through. offcourse if you want realy good one, like that low saws from nord or virus
i know many people know all of this, but maybe someone doesnt so..hope this will help and if you want more try to find old marcopolo's thread where he explains some basic things concerning synth programming |

How can i keep evolving a lead without adding other noises? you know like tracks thats leads have some kinf of very deep flanger[but not flanger]...
i hope i was understandable...

@mindfly - Theres one called live cut by smart electronix and theres another audio damage replicant that gives a similar sound... i use em both... replicant gives that space cat pad stutter type of sound, its brilliant, and can make killer glitches as well... live cut is also nice although its a bitch to get it to sound consistent.. |

btw, for those who like glitch...  there are also 2 parts of glitch available as single plugins, tapestop & stretch
stretch is very nice for breaks imo...havent tested tapestop that much yet tough

also try vanguard, play with the osc and lfos :]
smartelectronix has got very nice plugs indeed, i use almost them all lol
also try to play some notes, export them to wav chop and re-arrange, add some fx and its done
