@ znamdan - the beauty doesnt lie in subgenres its in the music itself. you cannot divide psychedelic music! just because every track is different from another and have a different feel in it! some trax have "morning" feel and some have "night" feel. and yes you called dark psytrance artists morning psychedelic music...dude thats your problem cuz u listen too much dark and you see too much differences between it and actually if u like music you shouldnt divide it.

Well lets just leave it to each of our own perceptions and enjoy =) no point in taking this further as neither your nor my opinion will budge

BooM

ps - there is nothing as "too much dark" hehe each to his own, whatever appeals to us as individuals..live and let live

Listening to mind distortion system right now. it 3pm here not really morning and its burning the walls down. for home listening there's nothing better than pounding well produced psychedelic dark music during the day time for me atleast. it completely depends on the frame of mind im in .. usually ill settle for some sensifeel or solar fields anytime but for that little extra zing to the quality of attention , i'll choose something a little harder like goe, psykovsky, furious, mds, wizack twizack derango etc

At parties its a differet scene .. i prefer the mornnig sounds in the morning and the night at night .. after the sun has risen the melodies need to take over and the drums need a rest. wont mind a hard dark track thrown neatly somehwere in the middle tho

np mds -find out (feat Kazoo)

sometimes its nice to be reminded that even though its bright n sunny all around, things can still be pretty twisted n that all u gotta do is dance thru it all in total surrender n still enjoy the beauty around amidst all the chaos, so, dark in the morning? why not...stomp away!!            To FiNd YouRsELf YoU GoTTa LoSe YouRsELf FirSt!

There's a logical time-frame for dark music, and it's in darkness.

I've seen videos of Goa Gil playing 150bpm industrial style darkpsy at like 10 in the morning-he looks so ridiculous I laughed out loud. I don't get why people would pay to hear 24 hrs of monotonous tracks with the same screams and jackhammer beats poorly mixed by some old man who is practically tone deaf.

Look...i respect your opinion but this is my take on it... You can divide psychedelic music into two broad categories : (1)Psychedelic Night (2) Psychedelic morning

(1) Psychedelic Night - "Dark" atmospheres, not necessarily screams & skulls from a dark galaxy, it can just mean atmospheres and a vibe that reminds you of the night..I personally hate people associating skulls etc etc. with night music, including some of those shitty gay cd covers... If you have experienced quality night music at the right time you will probably see where i am coming from - in my opinion true BEAUTY lies in subgenre of music.

Examples - Orestis, Ghreg on Earth, Savage Scream etc.

(2) Psychedelic morning - This category is a lot vaster.. It basically includes music that has a slightly uplifting & melodic vibe to it. The BPM in psytrance is highly irrelevant as it makes no difference to speed of the track really, tracks can sound faster at the slowest bpms I myself am not a big fan of high bpm - 154 is the furthest i would push it to. It also includes some of the quality full on genre acts that make true psychedelic sounds, not the cheesy crap...for example Absolum, Kali etc.

Examples - Osom, Grapes of Wrath etc. etc.

I feel the whole problem lies in calling "actual morning psychedelic music"- dark. So depending on your own perception, you make your choices Most people call real psychedelic morning music - dark...Thats where i think the problem lies. They seem to have the opinion that 148 BPM + renders a track as "dark" automatically...wrong

Just my 2 cents

ps - if you notice, the same holds good for ambient music, split it up on the ambience and what it makes you feel.

If you think Goa Gil's vision and understanding of psychedelic sound is poor..i dont have much to say, sure i hate the fact that he plays 160 + crap, but track "selection" wise, i can assure you hes above the rest of the game

I'm sure Gil's a nice guy, but he's really not that amazing a DJ. That's all I'm saying.

I like harder morning sounds, (I fucking hate the typical "morning fullon" Israeli crap) like the South African stuff, and on the slightly lighter tip, Setherian and other Oxygen records type stuff, as well as the stuff that mixes Goaish melodies with really driving twisted beats and basslines. I like darker flavors of psy too, I'm just really over horror trance, that's all.

P.S. I agree on Osom!

A certain sense of ambiance is also needed for the trax to open up.

You mite end up listening to the traxs in the car on your headphones at your home with decent enough speakers, but the fact still remains that a certain degree of ambiance and climate and surrounding around you can build the aroma and essence of the traxs to come alive i hope i'm able to bring it out to you ppl ..!

nice thght though from every1, a lot has changed in terms of the sound and quality and i always preferred a certain sound during certain hours of the day but then again to each its own perceptions and vigils ..!

Enjy the muzik thts all i say, sound surley has changed since 1999 ..!

Seconded.

I will say that I think I might make an exception for a morning set of one of the really funky dark artists, like Seroxat, Samadhi, or Encephelopactycus (sp?)
