it might not be DARK, though there are a lot of dark moments, very compatibly integrated into GOA
at the moment, nothing DARK GOA actually exists, and i guess it's a matter of time, but harder and more night oriented goa is already the biggest minority of GOATRANCE itself.

Alienated's other tracks besides the one on Black Rhino are worth tracking down. Not sure why they never became more popular, almost seems like they were too dark and distorted for the time.

Well, what you are looking for then, is not Goa, or Dark. It's just Trance, as it was soon after it dismembered from House, in the late 80's. Later this Trance school influenced the first Goa Trance tracks, but what you are looking for will be under the Trance umbrella.
There are some good releases with tracks like Black Hole's. I can remember some right now, but their titles don't come to my mind. I think one of the first Return To The Source CDs features this sort of pos-House, pre-Goa stuff.

They were certainly goa and pretty dark for the time.
I love Darshan and would love to find more stuff like them but they had their own sound, its not really a question with an answer.
The closest you will get is to explore all the others tracks by the arists on Black Rhino..but still none of them sound like Darshan.
Honestly, the closest thing Ive ever heard to Darshan is some of the older/faster tracks by the industrial band Headscan.
Although with that last example maybe you just want to hear faster goa? Darshan's sound to me is fast, dark, distorted but somewhat minimal compared to the goa at the time.
Cydonia is amazing, certainly dark goa but most that stuff isn't that fast. Like FLA- Columbian Necktie(cydonia rmx) to me is the height of dark goa, but its probly not fast enough for what you are talking about.

I don't think so. Time stops here (the Black hole album (which I've finally listened to now)(and it's great)) was released in 1998 and it has a very pure Goa trance sound. The Optica albums were released between 1995-1997 and are also very much Goa trance (and Ambient Goa).
I don't think I need to defend the fact that Darshan is Goa trance, although some have called Darshan "Dark Goa"... that's where I got the idea to name this thread "Dark Goa trance".
