Nice! Thanks Dark-Force. You are a man of your word.
Interesting that you compress kick and bass together. Someone told me to never do this on the Mother of all Basslines thread and I had suspicions that it was BS. It makes sense to me to stick them together.

then it goes to group with kick

sorry my lack of knowledge, but what do you mean goes to a group with kick? do you bounce them together? do you create a fx group to send to the bass and kick?

I think he means to send bass and kick channels to one FX channel.

WEELL...since i need to keep my word, here is my method:

bass is made from vanguard (like many dark artist i know, in chill music - sylenth or others) , and gets an insert of URS N12 EQ , then it goes to group with kick - and compressed by URS STRIP PRO NATIVE, see images below.
Sometimes i use db audioware sidechain compressor, sometimes not, depends on if i want that 'pumping' feeling or not...
this is group compressor setup ( +- )

and this is eq and midi (+-)

and this is how the final result sounds liek (+-):

hopefully, i can sometime repay the investment for all these expensive vst's

the final result sounds way diferent to what idone, how did you get those subs in bass and kick to sound so smooth, is that the mastered version?

probably it was me mate and really i believe that .
if you are good enough to make them fit, you dont need this.. better train your ears than using tools badly and let the sound breath

anyway "dark" trance is no fat at all so compression might help there

Ok, lets clear up some issues that was raised here:

1>sending a track to a group is NOT the same as sending it to a fx channel, and deciding how much % goes to the effect, and how much is left dry.
i dont normally send kick or bass to any sends, unless in extreme break situations.

2>compressing the kick and bass together is not necessary, however it adds warmth and "glue" to the sound, and can only add to it IF you work it properly.
it isnt ment to make the volumes of the tracks equal - they get to the the compressor that way more or less... besides, mix presets in compressors usually have high attack, so they wouldnt interfere with the kick/bass (sidechain takes care of that).

3>subs in the bass and kick are cut using eq, so it doesnt sound muddy.

4>the preset will post a link for it asap

So I guess now I'm not clear on what it means to send them to a group. Maybe because I use Live 7 and not Cubase. In Live 7 you can create an audio track put fx on it and send your MIDI tracks to that one and you don't decide how much to send. Or you can send to a "Return" track with FX and you do decide how much to send. I think in Live 8 it will allow you to group the tracks together.

I'm testing Beta for Live 8 right now and it does allow you to group the two tracks together. Is this what you mean DF?

And also are you also using EQ on the group on seperate?

this he meant. eq he puts on the track channel. but some slight eqing is done on the comp as well.

i guess it's a matter of taste but i would only use multiband-compression on kick together with bass. and concerning basslines sylenth beats vanguard in every style imo. there's a preset called something with moog. very good starting point.
and read the domestic thread again coz dark force's settings show that's better using your ears. or have you ever read to treat a bass like this (nothing against, but not the classic advice imo). anywaz it's nice if people with blue names share their techniques. thanks.
