ok, i got my dark energy in the mail a couple of days a go and it's a fine piece of equipment! it's not too small and it has loads of possibilities. you can even build a monster synth and combine several dark energys or start adding modules from the a-100 system!
i like the sound, you get the squelchiness of a korg ms-20, some sh-101 and moogish stuff too. ofcourse it has got only one osc compared to voyager's 3 oscs but when you compare the prices you can buy 6 dark energys for the price of one voyager.
i also bought the glide option and it's very easy to install. took me about 5 minutes. and it's definately worth the 10€
one thing that is a bit disapointing is the knob control. sometimes i feel like there's less happening in the sound than i'm tweaking when i'm closing in on 0 or 10. in other words the knob control is not as accurate on the whole knob turning range as i'd hoped it to be.
if you buy it i strongly recommend you to buy a couple of patch cables since you want to use them right away
http://www.thomann.de/fi/doepfer_a100c15.htm
remember you need 3,5mm cables! 15cm patch cables are suffcient for the front row connections and 30cm cables are enough for back > front row connections. if you want these cables to go around the edges of the synth and not over the control surface i suggest you buy 50cm or longer patch cables instead. the original package contains two 50cm patch cables, an audio cable (3,5 to 6,3mm), usb cable, power source and manual.

If I am not mistaken the Dark energy has the A-120 VCF, the classic 24dB/8ve, moog-like transistor ladder filter. Its more "juicy" than the dryer in sound transistor ladder Analog Systems filter which I also had on my hybrid modular.
Not as phat sounding as the Curtis chip based A-122 VCF, but the resonance is more defined and you can get brilliant kicks with the Doepfer ADSR and A-120 VCF.
Peace out.
