I just then tried to re-load certain important tracks, only to find the underside of the CD media has a blotch on it. I cant be sure, but its either mould or a sort of depression in the shape of a small circle...
my question is, is there anything that can be done? be it either software extraction, or physical repair... this CD is very important to me, and if cant be fixed, set me back quite a ways...

drooid... i don't know where are u from,
but i think this can be recovered, though it will cost you money. what happens is: the CD is taken into a special Lab, analized & processed, and if only the surface is damaged your data will be recoverd.
it will cost you some $$$ though.
search for Data Recovery company in your geographical area, and next time, backup the backup
boom.

there are some liquids for this kind of work..
search for them...
and the idea of trying different drives (cd-roms, dvd-roms, cd-recorders) might help you indeed..
in search for an answer... |
