"Live at Dakini Nights" (DAK2113) is s compilation documenting the artists who've played at Dakini Nights over the past 5 years. The tracks aren't live recordings -- most of the stuff we recorded off the P.A. was too hot -- but rather studio recordings representative of what the artists do live. Nine all new and exclusive mixes featuring:
••• MAKYO, with a remix of a track off his forthcoming album on Dakini...
••• GREG HUNTER of Subsurfing / Dub Trees / The Orb / Juno Reactor fame, with his first released tracks in quite some time...
••• KARSH KALE, a "lost" track from the archives featuring sarangi by Ustad Sultan Khan...
••• PUFF DRAGON, aka Double Dragon, the freshest talent on Tokyo's ambient / downtempo scene, following up his tracks on Ultimae and Iboga...
••• OCHI BROTHERS, a stripped-down, heavily percussive track reminiscent of their live sets, with GoRo on zen flute...
••• SEVDA, featuring Goro and Madoka, putting the dub into some nice middle-eastern solos on saz and ney...
••• ISHQ, his first new material since the much-loved "Orchid". This track has a heavily psychedelic vibe, and Dakini Nights regulars will remember it as the one he opened his live set with last September, with Tara-Mika doing her aura-dance thing...
••• RASIYA, new Indian-ambient-jam band, who've played at Dakini the past two summers. Their first released track.
The album also features stunning artwork, and a 12-page booklet featuring photos from the events, vol.1-11.

Come celebrate the 5th anniversary of Dakini Nights with a full line-up featuring both regulars and newcomers. Dakini faves OCHI BROTHERS will be doing an acoustic-electric set with help from GORO and HIYOSHI on the decks, MAKYO will be spinning tune after tune of unreleased tracks, and MISHAAL will be back for her first LONG set after a long hiatus, supposedly a bit darker and deeper. PUFF DRAGON will showcase the extended, spaced-out dub mixes that he's been working on, free-flowing electronic collages that recall early '90s Orb. And RASIYA will close the evening with some chilled Indian-acoustic jamming. (Think Popul Vuh with more chilies in their diet.) All this plus "Skydancing" artist SEISEN ITO jamming out some live paintings, VJ wizard SHINYA messing with your head, and debut skydancers KAHINA & TAKE. Our only Dakini party till the Fall -- don't miss it!
Also, we'll serve extra strong coffee to make this the ambient party where nobody falls asleep. (fair trade & organic coffee by Slow Water Cafe)

1.~~~~~ SEISEN ITO, MISHAAL, and AURA all have DVDs due out this summer/fall, probably in the above order. These will be available on the Dakini website, stay tuned...
2.~~~~~ MAKYO will have his fifth album finished by fall, for release on Dakini.
3.~~~~~ ADHAM SHAIKH (Drift, Ekko) is nearly done with his new one, "Fusion", and it's his best yet. Due out on his own label and perhaps DAKINI too...
4.~~~~~ GREG HUNTER is off in Egypt recording the 'final' solos for his JAGATAH album.
5.~~~~~ ISHQ is nearing completion of a more abstract electronica album with side-project VIRTUAL, due out quite soon. The second ISHQ album is also in progress...
6.~~~~~ PUFF DRAGON is working on an album for release in 2005.
7.~~~~~ GORO has a solo album due out soon.
8.~~~~~ MAKYO's "Vismaya" will be re-pressed later in 2004...
9.~~~~~ DAKINI NIGHTS will present 'Eternal Music', an 8-hour drone event inspired by La Monte Young, in August at Bul+lets...
