Originating from Lisbon, D-tector aka Diogo Ribeiro is a pioneer in electronic dance music production in Portugal.
Working in audio production since 1993, his career developed on the emerging trance, house and techno scene in the beginning of the nineties.
Heavily influenced by his father’s eclectic taste in music, from Jazz, classic to experimental, guitar playing and audio equipment collector, rapidly the urge for music production emerged, and after concluding his sound degree, in Etic School for communications in Lisbon, started with music composition and audio manipulation, presenting his first progressive trance act back in 1998.
After releasing several tracks, on labels like, Neurobiotic rec., Flow rec., Nanobeat rec. Millennium rec., Solarsiv rec., Progressive grooves, or JER Rec., or Liquid Records an artist album was released on Flow rec. in 2003 as Faktor-D minimal trance side project, giving the change to tour from, New York (USA), to Cancun (Mexico), Zurich (Switzerland), Valencia (Spain), Split (Croatia), and pretty much everywhere in Portugal.
Besides his dance music passion, he developed early a taste for downtempo, experimental and dub music, witch came to life by his project Cooltour, along with Pedro Caetano on the vocals, soon to be released on Dubkraft rec.
Along with his D-tector and Cooltour, projects another one is emerging in a more electro, techno approach by the name of Red Slack, with DJ/producer Miguel Santos, recently released on Progressive grooves, and JER recordings.
After moving from center Lisbon to the peaceful village of Sintra, in 2005 the dream of building his own studio came true, and is now 100% on music production, as well as sound designing, and commercial audio production activities.
