If i get it right what you mean, it's not any different than downloading or recording anything to the internal disc.           A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life.

Absolutely no problem here.
I do it on a regular basis and I'm just hoping my external doesn't die before I can back it up.

Just set your preferred destination folder on the external disc on the Preferences -> Folders menu of your recording and/or downloading software.           A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life.

JUGGERNAUT, the problems that can occur are related to the fact you can get into "bad cables, bad contacts" issues.

what mac computer are you using ?
