who are they ? do they have greater powers than us mere mortals .. listening to trance , doing drugs meditating and connecting to the world through the written word .. i want to see a cyber shaman .. can you help me in my search .. i've heard they have healing power as well

I think the role of the cyber shamen(esses) would probably be something like what happens in William Gibson's 'Neuromancer' trilogy books, whereby, thru a mixture of voodoo and extreme (software) programming, cyberspace becomes a REAL SPACE where the gods (of voudon), as selves, become cyber subjects who can break on thru to the other side and affect the material world.
If this happened, then the role of the cybershamen(ess) might be to GO INTO cyberspace and rescue a virtual you (or whoever) from attack by illness (a virus?) or perhaps a trolltype being. In the real world, shamen traditionally also acted as 'psychopomps', which meant they would travel with the spirit of a deceased person and ensure that they got to the right place (and not hell), OR they could travel into the other worlds and fight the spirits (perhaps of other shamen).
Therefore, I would assume that there is the possibility of a cybershamen coming into being, or at least being of some use. If we start to live as Greg Egan suggests in his novels, as (virtual) copies within cyberspace, and, after downloading our brainwaves on to CDs or whatever, turn off our (allegedly) useless corporeal biomechanical suits, then reality will occur within cyberspace and the cybershamen may be very able and useful programmes (or copies of able and useful people) which can hack their way into other programmes (perhaps a bit like The Oracle in the matrix, a film made some years ago now...)
