Lots of the humming the of bass is around 170-190Hz depending on the sound.
The subs can be cut from 30hz at least as it basically just causes rumble that is quite unuseable in fast paced music like psytrance. |

kick/bass on taupro. 4 bars kick, 4 bass etcetera, combi etc. also 2 other sounds.
somehow i am missing some subbass. also when its only kick and bass its not so groovy.
what abt the low end?
how to make the kick/bass more grooving?
any hints? |

ess765 is spot on with his advice. I do more or less the same same except that I rarely (if ever) use distortion on my basslines.
vipal, your bass notes are not tight. The timing is varying. And the bassline sounds a bit early compared to the kick. No idea why that is but you should fix that before doing anything else or you will never get a groovy bass+kick combination.

thanx undertow,
i used different note lengths for all the notes on tau. to get some groove. and it does not work well. i agree with what you say now while experimenting and hearing the difference.
with only regular 16/th's it sounds a bit too samplerlike to me. but with adjusting the first note after the kick and doin the rest straight in 16th's it really sounds tighter and still alive.
good tip! will post tomorrow the result (first i want to hear it loud and its here too late now for this) |

fx chain in bass was: psp mixbass, izotope trash, and too much tc powercore character plus eq.
did some changes:
http://www.yousendit.com/download/TEhWR0lVQXB6RTgwTVE9PQ
changed the kick and tuned it a bit down. found out that guru is not very precise with miditiming and notes in taupro start on time but ends at random at different times. so i corrected in audio both. made shorter notes in taupro on equal lengths. removed mix-bass, also took a bit less of 'character' , a tc powercore plugin. used izotope trash with the hints mentioned here and i like it better now. i hope its sounds less digital.
Pom and undertow: thanks for your comments, without feedback its for starters almost impossible to learn!

Aaah the timing sounds much better now.
Your bassline sounds a bit too high. This could be the note you chose in combination with the synths you are using. Some synths just sound better at some pitches than others. But I think you allready get better results with some EQing.
It is too "midish". By that I mean there is too much mid frequencies and not enough low frequencies in the bass.
I'm a bit drunk so I hope I am not alking out of my arse but I think there is too much 400-800 Hz and not enough 70-160 Hz.
Btw. I prefered your older kick. Or maybe somewhere in between. Lol Of course that is a taste thing. And these Duvels are probably impairing my judgement.
