When i cut a bit (small Q) of that ringing harmonic in the bass it sounds much better, but what about when the key change and am not playing around in c but now d or somthing. The ringing is on another frequency.
The only thing i can think of to solve it is to put a new parametric EQ for every single key change in the bassline. Thats very tedious.
Do you guys have a method for this or don't you care about it?

Best thing is to work with non-ringing non-problematic sounds. A sound should be as much perfect for you from the start of the signal chain.
If you are a perfectionist, yes you would do an EQ change for each different note. It can be done either by eqing every note, export it and then use only those notes exported. Or you could automate your EQ.
In the bottom line, you should always aim to work as less as you can on fixing harmonic problems that rise at the start of your signal chain.

Protoculture wrote a nice bass article. In it he mentions that if you're going to transpose to a different key, then write your new bassline on a track with different EQ settings. |

if that is really the case, then i respectfully take my hat off for the effort. it means that there is people out their that goes the extra mile for perfection. and i know it will pay off good.
I will google 'protoculture' in a moment. it would be nice to have a link for that artical.
thx

That article is at: bomelakiesie.co.za
What do you guys think of EQing a one note bass then render the wave then import into sampler like Kontakt and using it in different notes then... i mean since it already has the original EQ(ring remove) for that note, everything would be transposed to any other note's right?
Maybe a good question for Bill Cosmosis and his friends... 2day |

first you have to know if you are equing the real sound or the resonance/ringing caused by your room |

Exactly.
I moved houses recently I am still trying to "learn" my room. Other people's studios and a nice real time spectrum analyzer help's a great deal to find out what is caused by your room's imperfections.
For the second LP I am getting down to the tedious EQing of each note. Some need more than others, depending on what bassline synth I use.

Do you really do that? Equing each note? Is that a common practice among psytrance producers? Never heard of it and i believe it takes a lot lot of time.
I can spend several hours / days tweaking a single note bassline... can't imagine how much this would take for each track i make. |

aciduss, that's why you should keep the final mix touches when your track is ready.

This is basicly how I do it, I got a set of ES-1 Bass note samples from a friend that are nice and punchy and sounds great.
I load up the Halion set up my sound in the halion and do a high maybe a low cut on my mixer and I'm set.
