Personally still cannot figure out livecut..effectrix is pretty good.

I've gotten the best results out of livecut through bouncing and selecting certain audio files out of it, the ones that sound the least like livecut, then pitch and fx that shit and it works out real nice. For some reason I just never tried this until recently.

same here. when i first got it i was like.. damn this random shit pretty much sux. and never used it again untill nowdays, its fun to do as u explained there with it.

Nothing like the scissors tool.

You will never have total control of the sound chopping using glitch / effectrix or any of those... i like them for laying out some ideas but the work is always manual so you get nice stutterings exactly like you have in your head.

Using glitching vsts will leave you with a bunch of predictable effects, well you can invest a lot of time tweaking and make something good but as i said before i preffer scissors tool and Sx3 offline effects .

For chopped or gating effects , something not random i employ a Midi Gate
For example in Cubase sx3
1. Create an Audio track and drop the sample of choice , long sustained sounds are always the best for this.

2. Insert Cubase's default Midi Gate plugin located in the Dynamic Section on the Audio tracks channel strip

3. Create a Midi track and select Midi Gate as the instrument , draw some small notes like 1/32 or 1/6th and you have a chopped or gated effect.

4. Back in the Midi Gate Plugin you will need to adjust the hold , release , attack , all notes off/on etc to your choice to get desired results

I find this idea easy and you have more control of what note lengths you wanna do on the audio sample.. Its the same if you wanna do on any other vst softsynth also , the only thing u need to do is instead of an Audio track you would need to drop the Midi gate on a Midi track and the rest is the same.

I hope that helps!
