Hi !!
Well...do u know that effect that Hallucinogen uses and sound like a 'fast cut out'. A almost example from this is the "sixthy revelation" from 1200 mics. The vocal sample on the beggining uses that.
How they do it??? VST ? External hardware?
  mais uma skol,por favor! |

I suppose it can be kinda of a 'midi gate'. I mean, send midi information that tells the gate when it have to cut and when it have to let the sound rolls.
...still a mistery....

umm you can use midi gates but also you can use audio gates.... for the latter you need sidechain inputs which is easier in hardware but just about possible in plugins e.g. the compressor/expander/gate plugin from
http://www.db-audioware.com/
if only the VST/dx standard was a bit better to allow this stuff in a more elegant way....
oh i remembered two things ;
1) midi gates are SHIIITT in cubase becauyse of prblems with MIDI timing,
2) now we have plugin delay compensation in sx 2 these kind of sidechain effects will work better.. i think the db plugin has some delay. Actually the db plugin might not i cant remember cos i am a bit drunk....

Another way is to use the gapper process in sound forge, you can adjust the frequency in which the sound cuts out so in theory you can get the sound to cut up to over 10,000 times a second |

ummm well I just gave it another shot and.... it works fine for me too! For some reason when I tried it before with a rapid-fire MIDI input to the MIDI gate it was missing out some of the notes. Oh well - I'm happy it works now! So I take back my earlier post! |
