I there. In the last weekend i have the oportunity to lisen my tracks in a big pa system. I now very well that pa because almost every weekend i lisen them work. 1 of my problems are that my synth are very low (normally my principal synth peak at -10 -11 db).
And im starting thinking why its happen
Do you have any tips about it?

And im start experimentation and one of this i have do it is cut a litte of mid (around 300Hz) in my kick....and the result I lisen a
little more the synth because the hole i have made by cutting in the kick, but that experience give me another problem. When i ear the kick and bass only, its seems like something missing in the all bass freq range of the track, like a hole. Sorry but i can express better then that...
You guys normally cuts mid freuqencies on kick????
And someone can put like a picture of spectrum analizer from the kick????
Thanks again.(sorry my poore english)

lately i am doing a dip V cut between 350 and 500,and the kick doesnt sound as much as "box".but it all depends ont the sample as gaianide said, and also in what freqs do you cut on sunths and bass.good luck           Signature:

You have to ask yourself 3 questions when eq'ing the kick:

1. Does it still have enough power (subs/bass)?
2. Does it still sound as snappy as you want it to (high mids)?
3. Does it still fit in the mix?

if you can asnwer yes on all 3 questions you can cut whatever you want. I usually end up by notching between 250-500 with a 'yes' on all 3 questions.           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

look at standart "bassdrum" presets at most of EQ plugins, and you will see that most of them have

- boost at ~60 Hz
- cut at ~300 Hz
- boost at ~ 2 - 4 KHz

I think that has some reasons =)           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

usually in kicks there is a boxiness around 400-600hz some treatment there can make a kick more vibey and less ponky living some more space for some leads and pads to sound fuller and fatter!           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

I think the bass should be more to blame than the kick as the kick is only hitting 4 times in the bar whereas the bass is constant.

Try and make some small notches in the bass by sweeping & hearing which frequencies are ringing and annoying. This will clean up your low end much more & bring clarity to the low end.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic
