Heres what im working on right now.
The plan is to gather feedback for a week now and then I want to finish it.
The mix isnt completely done, but close to what I want.

All feedback welcome, but try to keep things technical...taste is different

Cheers,

hey mate,

the kick is very prominent in the mix and overwhelms the rest. it also sounds compressed&squashed and is not melting with the baseline to form a uniform sound.
maybe try to pitch it down some semitones to get it softer and more phat and glue it with the baseline (try to eq out some freqs in the 100 and 500hz area of the kick to see what it does to sound for starters), or even try another kick sample.
the snare could be more smacky and upfront to give it more drive. the hihats are also hidden somewhere and don´t add to the fullness and groove. maybe also some variation in the perc patterns would be cool.
like the style, could use some more variations storywise here and there but alltogether nicely flowing track           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

Thanks for the feedback!
The kick is already pitched up 2 semitones to match the key of the track, no compression used there, only a sample with EQ on it. The bass is only slightly compressed, but not together with the kick...I tried that a few times but either noticed no difference at all or it was worse than before.
I also tried to EQ kick and bass properly, but I'll see if theres more I can do. If nothing works, i maybe have to take another sample, thanks for the hint.

The Snare and Hats beeing so "hidden" is probably a result of my last changes in the mix. Seems it was a bit in the wrong direction.
The mix is really giving me headaches so far, at first kick and bass were far too low, then the bass was way too much, and so on....and I really try to be careful there

thanks again for the feedback, thats exactly the kind of feedback I can need to finish this track in a week or so...for now I grant my ears a bit of rest...or maybe something fresh

you can argue that obviously, but i would rather have a nice and good sitting kick without the pitch related to the tracks key then tune it to perfection and have it sound shit in the mix.
all my tracks are without pitch-matched kicks and most of them sound fine to my ear. (not all maybe but hey i am a noob as well..)

regarding the mix: giving it a rest and coming back to a mixdown after 2-3 days can really work wonders for a more distant picture

The kick is too loud in my opinion.
Basically from about 1:00 to 2:45 nothing new really happens. You can strengthen your track by adding new elements there. Same for 3:16 to 4:36, feels to me like the track is kinda stuck and should get some more 'stuff' inside.
I think the kickbass combo could be reworked too, the bass doesn't sound clear to my ears and the kick is too loud as I mentioned.

No high freqs in your track? Make your hihats emerge from their hideout

Thanks mate, thats good feedback.
After a few days without listeing to it, I came back and noticed basically the same problem..the drive is gone and after a while it really feels a bit stuck.
I did a bit of critical listening then again on tracks I like in the progressive genre and I think I have some Ideas to get a bit more life into that track again.

Dunno if that makes sense, but I think the track adds too much stuff too fast, so that later on nothing really new is happening...
Well, and it could do with a bit more percussion and/or SFX I think...

Ah and thanks for the title suggestion...I think Ill take that one when its finished           My first track:
