i have a few questions about mastering reason with cubase:
when people say here that reason is not enough do they mean that the instruments in reason are not enough and you need to use cubase vst instuments or just the vst effects?
and whats the best mastering stages:
rewire reason instruments to cubase and use the cubase as a saquencer or after you finished a track in reason turn your tracks to audio and master them in reason?and what are the mastering stages in cubase?
big question -need the help
thanx guys!! |

I hate the Reason sequencer, it sucks more than even Fruity Loops' seq.
Seriously, you don't do mastering in Cubase or Reason. This are Sequencing/Synth/Sampling programs.
If you want to master and you have spare money switch to Pro Tools

I've worked with protools... and cubase....
and i'll tell you what...
cubase..rocks.
protools.. is also an awesome program... but I'm a cubase junky....so maybe i'm a bit bias.
I recommend..doing most of the production in cubase... if you're using reason too.. rewire all your instruments into cubase.. and equalize in cubase.... then once you've got a solid EQ'd track... then put it into protools... and maybe do some more mastering in there.
That's what I'd prefer to do.
Cleaner sound.
Peace.

then again... protools is fuckoff expensive.. as well.. most people can't afford it.
For the average bloke on the streets.. still strugging for cash... cubase is definitely a good bet.
Realistically speaking.

I think that mastering can be done on a simple sound analyzer program. the point is that you have to fill every frequency that our ear can hear But the hard part is that you have to choose the right instrument for the right frequency to fill so you have to have a little bit of talent. For example winamp spectrum analyzer ... |

Pro Tools have a lot of good sides and some bad sides. Let's start with bad ones:
If you buy the TDM system it's quite expensive, and frankly it's not a very easy program to learn it contains miriad options to learn but luckily it all fits one main window.
The good sides: Well it gives a good fight to hardware, it has great plug-ins. The Lexiverb is as good as the Hardware and quite cheaper. The convertors that you get with the system are top notch. It's a fact, if you want to listen what Pro Tools does to Trance projects just check out Saikopod recent album. But offcourse don't forget that it's not the hardware that makes the music but the human being.
BTW on the personal note, I personally don't like this program and prefer SX on anything else. Because of the ease of use, MIDI superiority over Pro Tools and flexibility.
That's all
