sometimes this happens too,
but most of them do, simply you don't disable sysex filtering in midi settings - and therefore when u "write" or record the knobs tweaking the tweaking is not written into the file.

Well automation for Cubase works only for the first few channels(i think the first 8 chans)so my advice for u is to always keep one of the lower channels avail for automation and then use the mixdown in diffrent higher channel...
i keep chan 3+4 for automation effects recording...
that should do the trick for u...i didnt knew this for some time also and i used to break my head over the comp trying to figure out whats not working  |

in cubase5 the 1-32 channels has automation.
in cubase sx all the channels use automation.
((dont forget to activate READ.))
