long time i haven t used wavelab but i think it shouldnt have any difference in sound quality with cubase, both 32 bit float engine and they should sound 100% identical , if wavelab was sounding better no one would use cubase as a sequencer so they better make them sound the same. |

I hear here and there that dedicated stereo sum makes a more stable bus for mixdown or mastering. It came to my mind that Cubase is laid out for multi tracking, thus Wavelab could have a more stable bus more mastering, thus better sound quality.

for stereo work the sound is identical.
Wavelab is however better suited for stereo work on audio files and has somewhat less visual clutter related to the task at hand. Oh and when combining multiple 24bit words, 1+1 does not equal 2 at all. Even with a 32bit engine, the headroom available only offsets a small number of adds before the resulting word gets chopped to fit (and here every company implements different tricks)

I agree.
Also Wavelab could be considered a stripped down version of Cubase without the clutter that could affect processing resources. As you see no VSTi is loaded and I don't know what not.
