Hi to all
Does anyone know if cubase has a similar function to the "fold" function available on ableton?? Is there a way cubase can do it maybe in another way??

Ok the fold function in ableton basically allows u to choose specific midi notes. For eg. I want to play a melody in the scale of G minor. With the "fold" function i can select the notes which make up a G minor scale and basically assign these across the entire piano roll and hiding notes not needed. Psilocybian has a tutorial on making melodies where this is used.

ah ok, you mean that note blending out option..no its not possible in cubase. I usually create a midi file somewhere with the notes in the scale i want to use..for quick orientation. there might be a smarter way with midi plugin..will check that later..cheers           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Thanx mate. I usually just open a notepad and jot down all the notes as well. I know logic has a way to do it in its hyper editor. Im having another look in the manual.

Just do keep the notes that sound good to your ears.

I think the fold function can be useful, but when I'm writing a melody I like all the notes to be available as I like to use various blue notes, passing tones and all manner of chromatic runs.

But no I don't believe cubase has this.
