Hi Guys! I just made a cubase 5 tutorial on:

How to record your midi Synth directly to an audio track in cubase.

Adicionally this method also is valid for sampling video sound from movies/youtube(as shown in the video) or anything else that is going out thru your speakers.

Keep in mind that the configs may vary dependind on your audio card. Mine is an M-audio. For a different audio card you just have to configure the settings in VST Connections-> Inputs (where it says Device Port L/R) accordingly with your sound card master output.

Any Doubts? Just ask here! Cheers!

If your audio interface doesnt have the monitor outs, like mine, your shit out of luck

Then u got to set up group channel and an audio channel. Set up the audio channels input to the group channel. Route the channels u wanna record to the group channel and voila...
Creds go to mdma for that tip

i'll tell you what i do.
open vst connections - outputs
create a virtual output, lets say stereo out 2, which is not connected anywhere.
set the output of the vst that you want to record to stereo out 2.
create an audio track and set for input this stereo out 2 and for output your master out.
activate monitor
arm
record.

the stereo output is NOT connected to my soundcard or audio ports etc. i'm using it like a cable, or a bus.
also you hear only what is being recorded. not the output.
deactivating the monitor button lets you hear what is already recorded in that track (from the master output) without hearing your midi vst or whatever you sent there.

let me know if this works for you.
