Hi there, just want to know how to make all my midi notes in a different scale (like raga or arabian etc..) without having to transpose them after i draw each of them. Is there a way to change the project scale universally? |

You either record them as MIDI from a keyboard, or draw them in your chosen scale. You might want to use this website too: http://www.nfo.net/MFILE/ |

You should be able to setup something in the "Logical Editor" to find notes and move them to a different position. You could then set up presets to automatically move them to different scales, where it would move it to the closest notes for example.
Keep in mind this is theoretical since I havn't actually done it, I just know how the "Logical Editor" works to an extent.
Anyway, pop open the manual and read about the Logical Editor.

Anyway, if you look on page 331 of the Cubase 4 manual, there is a short section called "Transpose to Scale" which tells you what parameters to set up in the "Logical Editor"

insert the track fx in mid inserts in the inspector.there you can choose finetuning like arabian and whatever and even set the root key and track delay and stuff like that..

Yes this is a lot easier, but it doesn't actually move the notes, it just does it automatically for you internally.
Which is completely fine, but you wont know what it's really doing unless you learn the scales.

ok now on a bit more serious note, I dont know cubase that well, but gerenally a lot of eastern scales are not possible without tuning because they use quarternotes.
I'd advise some manual fine-tuning like zork said above since its not just about drawing some notes.
