I feel for you Honguito.. I too am a PC user and due to a bunch of my friends at the time who were enthusiastic Logic users, I took the time and effort to learn Logic 5.5.1. Of course now I feel slightly silly for doing such because of the marketing stunt Apple pulled. So my options are to either stick with software that will eventually not even work with my system, or learn a new sequencer. It doesn't have to be Cubase either. Ableton Live 4 is on it's way to becoming a very powerful alternative to the giants that have dominated audio sequencing. Ask yourself this question and your answer might present itself. How long do I want to make music? a month, a year, a decade?? Do you want to learn something, just to learn something else??? I kinda wish I had asked myself this question before I got into writing music. Now I am a Logic user on a dead system, with no real desire to buy a Macintosh... but not too much of a desire to learn Cubase either... I am slowly learning Ableton live, but once you have gotten used to how to do things in one sequencer, it's a little difficult to pick up a new sequencer and start all over again. My suggestion would be to pick something that you know you will like using for a long period of time. Me, I will probably still use Logic untill it isn't possible for me to use it anymore, but life is going to royally suck the day none of my soft synths work with it anymore...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

That's a load of BS, i don't know if U know this, but osX, the operating system for Macs, is dedicated for Audio & Video...can't say that from Windoze !
The fact that Apple bought Emagic is that they will make it specially for osX, with the technology Emagic gave them...
It just gets better...

That isn't true. OS X is based on BSD (UNIX) which has never been dedicated to audio and video. Apple have added their own GUI and modified things a bit but it is still basicly UNIX. They have added AU for the audio because BSD itself isn't dedicated to audio. UNIX is just dedicated to being stable and very good at multitasking.

Note that the design of Windows NT was also originaly based on the UNIX model (from DEC in this case). They did seem to get lost along the way though.

I do find that OS X is technicaly superior to Windows but due to the heavy competition on the PC platform, PCs are faster and much cheaper.

But they are still only really interested in selling hardware. Everything else is a means to that end. That is fine as such and as I said before, Logic is a good application. It just isn't worth investing in it on the PC platform if you are starting from scratch.

UnderTow... Moral point of view?

There is no 'cubase' in the world that can take me away from Logic
so I don't care if Apple bought Emagic or any other skeems they made - I just want my Logic to be updated regulary.

for Apple it maybe a amrketing trick, but for me it's a continuation of workflow.

there seems to be this stupid trend in the psytrance production circuit that logic is somehow better than cubase sx.

this is bullshit, as far as im concerned, because cubase can do EVERYTHING that logic can.

i used to use logic but switched to cubase sx when it came out, and emagic fuct everyone over by selling out to mac

some logic users are even using cubase sx to bounce their final mix because apparently the bit depth in cubase sx is higher than logic and the mix is clearer (i dont know if this still applies to logic 7 maybe they fixed it)

its all about learning to use the interface, and using it as a tool.
to say one is better than the other is silly cause its all subjective.
its like saying one type of trance is 'better' than the other or that mac is 'better' than pc.

the point is.... 'you' think its better, and thats it.

cubase sx is a killer music production sequencer.
sure the old cubase (before sx) was shit.
but the new (sx/nuendo) series is awesome.

but is it better?

i dont think so.
same shit, different pile.
