Is it possible to backup whole cubase SX 2-projects automatically - including ALL sounds/samples (eg. Battery-Drumsamples)? Or do I have to save the battery kits manually and burn them seperately on the same cd?

I want to burn my complete projects on CD to save them and it would be nice if I could just put the burned CD into the computer later (maybe also in a different computer) without having to search for lost samples.

How do you backup your cubase-projects?

Thanks in advance,
martyn

You can export your audio pool easily, but the Battery samples are handled separately by each instance of Battery. So you'll have to save the kits on thier own.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

Thank you for your reply!

Hmmm... if I save a battery kit - won't it just save the PATHS to the files on my hd - and not the file itself? Then I would have to search them later, too - eg if I change my system or use a different computer.           www.myspace.com/mentris

No! When you save a kit with battery, it creates a new folder with new copies of the drum samples. The new folder is created wherever you save the kit file. Nice feature.

Is this possible in FL5? To make a save file/folder with all the elements used in a project?

This is also the case for Kontakt multis - a very cool feature indeed.           ELECTRON EYES / MARK-EVAN (NOR. CAL)

fragletrollet: save it as a zip-file, like that u have all the elements necessary to open the project, except the plugins, they have to be installed on the system with witch u open the flp... But all the rest (samples, presets,...) is in the zip. just extract the zip and u have everything in one folder.

Zipping audio isn't a good idea, since zip uses lossy compression.

correct me if Im wrong... but zip does not use lossy compression! It will unzip into exactly the same state that it was in before you zipped it up.

One trick that works with Sonar bundles is to use Monkey's Audio to compress the whole bundle.

I just add .wav at the end of the bundle name (or it gets refused by the encoder) and compress it. Then remove the .wav when I uncompress it. It gives me much smaller files than using zip or rar.
