Can i route on cubase the Vst's sound to a sub mixer and use effects on it. i mean using the effects for audio, and not for midi, cause you can't use then on the midi chanel, i only know using this on the output mixer, but this is not good for recording, and i don't want to use 2 comp's to produce. |

what are u talking about willian diesel ... ?
u dont need to use effects on midi ! .... in cubase sx , when u load a vsti plugin and route it to a midi track , 2 channels open up in the mixer .. a midi channel for the midi trk , which u can hide as u wont be using it anyways ... and the output of the vsti , which is similar to an audio channel .. and this is where u must put all the effects n stuff !!! |

yup the "midi effects" are pretty beat but think of it as hardware you have a synth this box of modern wonder only makes sounds then you have a midi keyboard or something to send a midi signal. The synth cannot make any noise without having an audio output just like on the back of it a left and right audio output you cand trigger all the notes you want but without this audio output hooked up to something its pointless. the only way to make those noises is through midi however midi isnt a physical thing it is just sent so that it can tell your noisebox (vst) what to do its like having a mouse controlling the brain of a massive robot created for world domination the mouse doesnt dominate the world the robot does but its nothing without the mouse. SOOOOooo since midi isnt physical but audio is you need to add the effects to what makes the audio. so in your mixer forget about the channel that says midi 1 or whatever and put the effects straight on the device which will be vanguard albino a1 or etc. ok sorry a bit off course the but
i got to the point.

i think you missed the basic of midi
midi is just computer languege , that send data to the synth/effect.
whats coming out of it , going to ausio channel , there for , you dont need to use midi effects unless you want to change the midi data (pitch , length , velovity, cutoff..).
