Hi There,
lately I've been getting weird problems with Cubase. As long as i have only MIDI Tracks runnning, Processor Power is under 40 %, but as soon as a Single Audiotrack (except for the Kick) is running, the processor runs to 95 % and the Music stops and starts again. I checked the sample rate and bit rate, its all as in the Project ! (44Khz, 16bit).
If anyone could give me a tip, it would be very cool because the track rocks and i don't want to ditch it because of technical problems.
Thx in advance,
Soth |

Are you sure that it's processor which is hitting the 95%, not the hard disk?
Because that kind of stuff could be caused by hard drive problems 'cause audio is played directly from the hard drive.
I remember my friend having this same problem, so I can try to ask how he managed to get rid of it. I just remember that he used all audio files from samplers so those were played from RAM instead of hard disk.

if you got IDE Hard drives, check for the correct setting in your device manager. You can find this setting on your disk controller. The name is different from mainboard to mainboard, but I'm sure you'll find it
It should be set on DMA, it might be set to pio mode.
Another clue is fragmentation on your hard drives. Check with diskeeper (good prog).
Check aswell if your comp is optimised for background services. A google search should help.
hope that helps for starters.

Is it with any audio file? Or is it just a particular audio file? If it's a particular one, try opening and re saving it.
Also check to make sure that you have all of your audio files and temp audio files on the same partition of your hard drive if you have multiple ones.

Control Panel on the computer, check the POWER OPTIONS and see that is not configured to minimal power management or as a Laptop.
Should be on home/office desk.
Maybe it's that.
