Hi,

I'm experiencing the following problem: I have a project i'm working on in Cubase sx and when i tried to open it the other day it starts to open it and then nothing happens. Grrrrr...The windows task manager shows that cubase is using 95% of the CPU cycles.

I didn't install any new plugins or do anything to change my system between closing the project and trying to open it again.

Has anyone experienced something similar and found a solution ?

god damn! something is annoying it..... maybe something its trying to load and isnt there... although that should be taken care of by the "search, locate, folder" window....
which version of sx2?
2.2.0.33 or higher?           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

it's version 2.2.0.35 it used to work like a charm, but now. snif... IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY !!!! What can be more annoying then being unable to open a project you've worked on for weeks ?

Ah well, i guess it's an anomaly. I'll just have to modify the deflectors.

I had something like that with nuendo. it took a lot of time for my seesion to load and the cpu was 100%, even if I removed all the plug-ins. so to fix this I launched nuendo, opened the bad session and an earlier backup and copied the changes to the old one. I think that the session was coruppted for some reason.
another thing you can try. there is a cache file for every project, delete that file and try to load again.           "a new art came into my mind which only you can create, the Art of Noises, the logical consequence of your marvelous innovations." Russolo, 1913

You could try to rename the vstplugins folder temporarily to see if it opens at all. of cause it'll tell you about pending connections, but it's a way 2 c if a plugin causes trouble.
Then use save to another folder function and reopen it with correct vstplugins folder again.
maybe the new copy will be executable.

Good luck.

PS: Do CTRL+ALT+S as often as you can

i have read about this problem in soundonsound once. One of they're journalists had this problem and wrote about how he solved it... That was quite long ago, so it should be freely available on they're site, but i don't know how the article was called anymore... Hope this can be of help...

good luck..

Ahhhh.... Solved the problem. It turned out to be some kind of conflict with the waves plugs i was using. I renamed the waves folder and i could open the project again. Yowser yowser yowser !!!

Thanx everyone for your input.

yh, i just renamed the folder containing the plugins (PC) so the project that contained one of them couldn't find them anymore. Then the rest of the projectfile opened without any problems except for a few nag-windows that said the waves plugs couldn't be found. tsk, tsk, tsk... phew !
