Cubase SX 2.2 trouble ...

I never had this problem before with cubase ...but sudenly i get it realy often ...
first the sounds starts to get slowly quiet and more qiuet and sound like a bit crusher (samplerate goes down) ...
then my mouse starts to moove slower and slower untill cubase definitly crashes ...
but it doesen't make a backupfile from the track ...
As i told i just have this problems sience a few days.... i didn't install any new plugs or changed anything in the software / Soundcard ...
I have 1024 Mbram
3.2 Ghz
Pentium 4
M-Audio - omnistudio (USB Soundcard)
I hope some one can help me ...

The mouse moving slower suggests a CPU drain... you should try to confirm this by opening the task manager and clicking the performance tab, see if there is something going on that's steadily overloading your CPU.
Anyway that's not a solution but a good opening step...
My girlfriend had similar Cubase problems with having other USB devices aside from the audio interface plugged in. Even simple small devices like Flashcard readers were causing wierd CPU spikes...  http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

look in processes in ur task manager, there u can see which process exactly is taking up all the cpu-power...
when u found the process and u can't stop it in a normal way, use hijackthis (search in google, u'll find it) to block the process
it could be a virus, spyware, antivirus, antispyware, trojan, a plugin,... possibilities are endless... |

this might help as well..go to the taskmanager then processes and right click on cubase sx then select high priority for cubase sx..it'll allocate more memory to cubase sx n might improve ur performance..good luck!!
