I'm thinking of buying Cubase.
Whats the disadvantages of the cheaper Studio Version?

I think you dont get what I am trying to say.
have you noticed that there is no new Nuendo?
and have you noticed there is no Cubase SX 4 ?
what I mean is that
Cubase 4 is like nuendo: cubase with more studio connections and bigger package.
and cubase studio 4 is what cubase sx3 used to be.

but you'll also agree on me, when i say nuendo is also for movies - which cubase will never be (at least is not in the current verson)....so?

The comp chart doesn't include everything that is missing from cubase studio 4. The best would be to download the manual if possible//all the through the manual is says Cubase 4 only, these are the things that are missing from Cubase studio.
Like input channels, you can't control the level of the input from inside cubase when recording.
No offline vst clip processing, you can't process one part of audio with vst's only with basic functions like reverse etc...
I had studio and upgraded to the full version of 4
I felt limited with studio 4...
Just warning you that there is alot more missing than whats in that comparision list.

I think he meant...Cubase SL3 is now Cubase Studio 4. & Cubase SX3 is now Cubase 4. In terms of upgrades...

I cannot afford cubase4 atm.. I had to buy new equipment for my live and ableton 6 included..
I will stick with "good'ol" sx3 for now
but now I know I gotta go for Cub4 instead of the studio version.

I use cubase sl3 (predesessor of cubase studio 4). It's ok, but I miss the offline-processing!

No offline processing (with vst's) period!
You can still do the basic functions, like reverse, pitch shift, time stretch, but absolutely no way to do offline processing with vst.
