hi, i want to stretch or compress audiofiles in cubase.

kind of... a kick-line what runs 4 times faster and after it should get slower stepless, until it stops (out of tact/timing)

so..., i recorded the kick midi-file to a sterio audio file.
i tried to stretch/compress with the "manipulate funktion" in cubase.
i saw the waves stretching, but when i listened to it, it was no unique sound. the beat changes to much (noise/crack)

can you tell me another way for doing this?
(with audio files, not midi)

greetings & thank you!

rightclick on the audiofile -> effects -> timestretch.

^^^^^^^Make sure to change the time stretch to something besides standard in the settings. That way it doesn't break up the audio when you stretch it. You can use a higher quality algorithm and then when you stretch it using the "sizing applies timestretch" tool and that should solve the problem.           ~Airyck~

hi again, i changed the settings of timestretching into MPEX 2 (highest quality).

here is the result in 1 file.
1. part- original speed
2. part- slow (the kick is somehow broken)
3. part- fast

im not really satisfied with this^^ you think this is the best result i can get?

best result is if you dont stretch a file more than 15 bpm..it´s too much work for cubase i hear..

try ableton live for much better stretching

a stretch a day keeps bpm away:P
