I have a keybord that I use with cubase (yamaha motif), I want to record 16 midi tracks and have different sound in each track, but every time I change track (one to two for example) and change sound, the sound in the first track also changes...
My question is how to I keep the sounds in each track? What do I do to have the sound I want to stay in one track even though I move to different tracks?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, you want your synth to play 16 separate patches/sounds at the same time. Very few synths can do this. Some can, I think the Kurtzwiel K-2600 is one of them. I've never used the Motif, but I'm betting it probably can't.
Anyway, most can only play 1 sound at a time, or 2 if you put it in 'split' mode, where the lower half of the keys play 1 sound and the upper half plays a different one.
So, if you want 1 synth to produce 16 parts with all different sounds, you need to record audio tracks of your synth playing each line one at a time.
Unless I'm totally wrong. Anyone?

I believe the Motif can play different tracks, it is similar to the Korg Triton.
The problem is I don't know I to save each midi with the sound I want. Is it something I do from cubase or the keybord?

Sounds like your sending midi program change on all 16 channels. Check if your doing that in the channel strip midi out channel.

If the Motif can indeed play simulantanous presets... see if you can find a profile/info set to load into Cubase. Then it will already know what all the presets are called, and you can verify if the same preset name is associated with the track you want it on. Some profiles for popular synths come included.
I know there's some Logic utility that autosenses attatched synths, not sure what the Cubase equivalent is...
