Cubase question?

Does anyone know how to audition sounds via import audio without bypassing the master channel inserts?

I've just calibrated my studio using IKmultimedia Arc room corection which is used as a plugin on the master bus. It has made a huge improvement to my listening enviroment (I didn't realise how bad my room was until now), but the trouble is when I audition sounds via import audio it bypasses the master strip and I lose the benifit of Arc. Also, another reason I'd like to be able to leave the inserts on is that it would be handy to have a spectrum analyzer open to see what range certain elements fill..

Go to Devices, vst-connection, studio and activate control room..hit the little E and maximize the window using the little arrow, then swith to insertlist and insert your arc..now you would need to select the channels you want to prelisten with.

hope this helps, not quite sure, but should..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

I did look it up in the manual and read that you are able to chose between control room and master bus to audition sounds. I was assuming that I would need two instances of Arc. One for the master bus (monitoring) and one for the control room (auditioning).
However, if im able to select the master channel via the control room then that may be the solution I'm looking for.
Also, that would stop me having to bypass Arc every time I bounce audio..

Thanks for responding, I'll let you know if it works..

you need to bypass arc before bouncing anyway^^

and i additionaly do not quite understand, why its so important for you have arc in your prelisten chain..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Yeah, spot on.... Got it working now, Thankyou.

I'd never used the control room before but its well handy. I've added a spectrum analyzer, Oscilloscope and a tuner (as well as Arc) on the control room channel and set up a workspace for them, Then I made a macro for import audio + the workspace and added a key command to the macro.
Now when I want to import audio I just hit my key command and all the analyzing tools pop up with the browser and I'm able to see what the pitch, dynamics and frequency range of my samples are as I'm auditioning (all whilst running though Arc).

A very happy bunny indeed.

just make sure you do not get mixed up with the channels in the end..sometimes it can be confusing in specific situations after a long night or whatever, that you bounce your mix but was listening throught your control room for example..then next day you wonder why your levels dont match..

glad i could help..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Because the lows in my room were over exaggerated. I so, if I were previewing kicks for example and Arc was being bypassed whilst previewing them, if I import one I'd probably find that it doesn't have the low end I need. This way just makes things more consistant..

I've set the control room outputs to my soundcard, diconected the master ouputs and set the master bus to listen. This seems to be working how I want it.
