man lets put some sense here ... your first problem is sound card ... at home i use soundblaster 5.1 with pentium 1.7 512 ram ... at studio we use pulsar 3 + luna on same platform ... u must understand blaster isn't such a good card and i highely reccomand u buy at least luna ... there is the latency thing u spoke about and as better the sound card you'll use , the lower the latency will occuer ... of course u should play with the tweeken of audio in cubase , don't be affraid , it's not that complicated ... last thing : as i saw some freinds playing i will highely recommand u to use as much out source efects and instruments as u can ... for more details u can contact me in private and i'll explain my idea ... ;) good luck man !!! |

If you buy the Luna 3, it's deffinatelly gonna change yer CPU performance concerning audio aplications:
The card will work on the Audio. which will let the CPU work on other important things :) Like speedin yer machine up :)
well i have p3 800 , 512 ram , and sound bluster creative live. i tryed alrady all windows's .
and i came to disition that 98se is the BEST!
this is your problem: you probably use creative's drivers.
1) get rid of them 2) get APSlive drivers . read their documentation on how to install them. with them i had 20ms latency with very little pops on Celeron 433mhz with 128M RAM.
P.S. 1) with SBlive you can't have a professional sound. get delta44 for less than 1500 shek, and you'll be surprised.
2) windows 98 doesn't know how to manage more than 256 Mb propely.so if your RAM is in 256M pieces, take one out. 3) check your Motherboard resources drivers updates: maybe you have VIA chips (Apollo Pro), and they tend do create some audio problems. check for hardware drivers at your MoBo vendor's site.

Get them here:
http://come.to/sblive
enjoy :) Don't forget these drivers are not perfect. And they might crash here and there. |
