what a bullshit
it can't be because of your sound card
thing that makin your Pc slow in cubase is memory or mhz's of your Pc
add more memory 256+ MB RDRAM ( only a suggestion)
and buy Pc amd/intel 1.5 ghz and higher |

All this chips to the comp and cubase are bullshit but anyway i dont think your soundcard is the problem maybe you need reinstall windows or maybe upgrade the comp.

i don't agree with you K
1200 it's a lot of money in 2500 u can by monitors and in 3500 u can buy a pc why you need a cubase ? many our friends workin with it and it's workin well even warez betaversion
k , maybe you are a steinberg's advertiser coz every post u have to add that you brought "real" cubase and it's workin better than warez version
pc is the problem of TES and not soft
man try to free up your memory !!! |

Guys,
it might be the soundcard Latency problem that's all.
Let's say you've set it to 200ms - then after you hit play you wait whole 2 secs before it starts playing anything. This got a feeling of 'slow'.
About other things that go slow, it might be the Video Card - all those graphics - when they don't flow on your screen - it makes another feelin of 'slow'.
on powerfull machines - I don't think Cubase would be slow.

well i have p3 800 , 512 ram , and sound bluster creative live. i tryed alrady all windows's .
and i came to disition that 98se is the BEST!
when i say slow i mean that after i hit play i wait whole 2 secs before it starts playing anything, and when it have allot of sounds and fx on it, it sturts to do crunch sound and stucs and jumps. |

Ok, you're problem is in the audio settings. Go to the Audio control panel and try to reduce the latency somewhere. 2 seconds is 2000 ms, which is a lot. I'm working with 28ms. I don't know exactly how to do it with Sound Blaster, in my Delta I just click the control panel button and the settings are there. About the crunches, not much to do. Try to bypass some effects you don't really need at a specific moment. Just right click on the glowing "fx" or "ins" button. Right click it again to turn it back on. Just be sure that when you're mixing down, everything is on!
That's all, good luck! |

a Pentium 800Mhz will never survive 28ms with SBlive.... so you need to lower it down to 100ms at most.
when havin alot of Fx - your CPU has to calculate alot - both the FX calculations and the Fast latenxy output for the sound.
this is why your machine seems slow.
for a 1500Mhz CPU - it would take less time - but still - a good low latency soundcard makes you hittin Play and wait almost 0 seconds before is starts playing :)
and Mike, 28ms is Huge for a delta :) lower at least to 16ms ..... this is a nice one :)
