Cubase problem: When importin audipo file it ends up at double the speed

Hi guys,
hopefully someone can help me here,
this is very annoying, whenever I import a kick or any other audio file it's always sped up by 2. I use Cubase 4 on HP Pavillion laptop with Motu UltraLike Mk3.
