heya, my cubase gets stuck when i'm playing the work i did, and i cant find the reason
my machine info is:
p4-2800mhz-HT, 512 DDR 400, 80giga hdd-serial ata, asus p800 mb, thats enough info i guess
i'm working on cubase sx 2.2.0.33 or whatever, with lots of channels, and vsts..
i already tried to re-install the proggie, and my projects still gets stuck, so i assume that its a vst bug or whatever.., anyone know on common fucked up vsts? because only when i discard those vsts - Albino 2, ReFX Vanguard, Pro-53 - it plays my project well..
anyway, I added some screenshots, if anybody can help, i'll be very greatful
http://img17.exs.cx/img17/8716/CUBASE1.jpg - here you can see my computer performance while i'm playing the project
http://img17.exs.cx/img17/1563/Cubase2.jpg - here you can see the vsts that i use and the vst performance window (thats the reason i think that the vsts make the problem)
http://img17.exs.cx/img17/3494/cubase3.jpg - and again my computer performance when i'm playing the project
peace! |

You are using way to much vsti! And how many plug-ins are you using in that5 project?

I think it's not a problem of buggy VSTi's. At least these three i use them and get no problem. After checking the cpu screenshot i beleive that the problem is that you use more vsti's that your cpu can handle. Probably that's the reason of your problem.
Try exporting one or two midi tracks to audio, deactivate these vsti's and see if you still have the same problem. |

hey, first of all thanks for all the commments..
i aint naive or anything, just that i talked with lots of people and they all said that its working perfectly on their machines, and their machines were much less powerful then my machine, thats why i tought its vst buggy.
you guys are sure that its not vst buggy or anything?? only performance?
because i added more 256mb ram, 400 ddr - 768 mb total, and it still got stuck..

heya, so you say that its machine problem because i use too much channels and vsts..
so if i'll get another memory card - 512mb,
than i'll have 1024mb 400 ddr total, it'll slove the problem?
and if it wont? so vst bug?

I don't think the problem is the number of VSTs. Try increasing your audio latency. It will respond a bit slower but you can use many more VSTis. And if that doesn't help, upgrade to Sonar.

Sonar is another sequencer. I was making a joke really. But if you are interested, look here:
http://www.prorec.com/prorec/articles.nsf/articles/52A2F29218A0ADB286256F190051D8DC
But increasing your latency, I mean increasing the audio buffers. If you are using ASIO, there should be an ASIO control panel for your soundcard. If you increase the buffer size, you should be able to use more plugins.
You might be able to do this inside of Cubase. I don't know ... |

I FIGURED OUT WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM !!
anyway, I increased the buffer size and stuff, and it worked better but it still got stuck, anyway I set the max buffer size that my sound card can handle and its still got stuck.. so.. I installed my second sound card (creative vibra 128, shitty one ;p) from my second comp, and changed the buffer size and it works now!! clean and smooth!!
I guess that the onboard sound card (a97 - asus p8400) couldnt handle all those vsts so thats what happend
thank you all for the help, espically undertow |
