Cubase problem - Limiting

Ok, I'm all new when it comes to limiting but it seems to be a nice little feature. However, I've got a problem handling it. This is my situation:

I've got 2 audio tracks (named Timpani and Cymbals) routed to a group track (called Group percussion). I've got a pre-faded insert in the group track with the Dynamics VST, and the Limiter patch. I've put the threshold to -6dB, but the master output tops -9dB. Why is that? I have to increase the volume fader of the group track to 3dB to make the master output level correlate to the -6dB that I adjusted in the limiter. What am I missing here?

You can check http://www.geocities.com/rakmannen/cubase-problem.jpg to see my problem visually. Thanks for helping me out

Are there other inserts on the group track, inserted after the limiter ?

Cubase Master channel has a 3db difference (at least in SX2) from normal channels. This always happens Don't know if it's the same with group channels (but i think not). Just use the master fader. Oh and don't be so worried about numbers (unless they hit 0.0 of course).

By the way i have a doubt... hitting the 0.0 in the master channel causes distortion... and if it only hits 0.0 in the normal channels will that cause distortion?

I found the thief, kind off with the help of your reply, e-motion. In the 'project setup' window, the pre adjusted value for the 'stereo pan law' was -3dB. Changing this to 0dB made the master fader top the same dB value as the group channel, that is -6dB. This is some rather simple mathematics

e-motion: to answer your other question - no, 0dB master volume doesn't cause any distorsion.

boobytrip: nope, I had no other insers than the ones mentioned in my thread that I started up this discussion with.

Thanks for your help, both of you! Highly appreciated!
