hello all,
i just got a new pc:
gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 motherboard/ Intel E6750 core duo2.66ghz 4mb l2 cache/ 320Gb samsung sata II 16mb cache harddrive/ 2GB pc2-6400 800mhz DDr2 patriot RAM
now ive installed my legitamate copy of cubase sx3 along with all my plugins. now everything was working fine till a few days in i kept recieving "error serious problem save your project under different name" message. thinking it might be a dodgy vst, i took up the process of elimination. to no avail though, even when i dont have any vst's installed im still getting this message. here's the latest log:

it doesnt say much to me but maybe someone can help, ive also checked the event reviewer, theres not much there either. does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this problem? oh by the way ive tried reinstalling cubase and its doing it on all projects not just one, even a new project with nothing in it...and also ive installed all drivers that came with my pc so i dont think its a driver issue.
hope someone can help a desperate man in need..
cheers.

p.s. sorry forgot to mention its also happening just on play and the message comes a few minutes in. |

I heard of similar problems with legitimate version.. Anyways if it happens just on play and not directly at start could it be audio card drivers problem? U say u installed everything that came with pc but did u try downloading latest drivers for audio card?
Anyways u got serious problem..

hey guys i have just noticed quite an appealing thing. looking in device manager i come across a faulty driver ( it has yellow exclamation mark on icon) in system devices, so you might be right acidkills:
microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio
now ive got a feeling this is conflicting with my m-audio 44 soundcard, hence causing the conflict in cubase.
my question is, should i try uninstalling both drivers then install my m-audio driver back in. the reason i ask this is because firstly its microsoft related and secondly its in system devices, i just want to make sure its safe to uninstall.
cheers |

U should have high definition audio but if it conflicts with m-audio uninstall them both and install just m-audio..
Looks like all this troubles I had for years are useful, well not for me but for others..
If it crashes again u could go for another format..
I realized that crashes every time they happen improve your setup in a way of better organizing dirs and having cleaner hard drive..
Also u could take as an option making windows deployment cd, making it easier to recover from other crashes in future.. They will happen, get used to it..
Post results and we will see in which way will things go..

"microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio" if it is a driver for your onboard soundcard and if you are able to turn off this device in BIOS then do it.
First, uninstall both drivers, then reboot to BIOS, check if there is an option to disable your onboar soundcard, if yes, turn it off, boot to Windows, and intall latest M-Audio drivers. Try Cubase and post the results.

hey guys, its sorted now!! hooray. looks like it was the driver conflict. had a search on my motherboard driver and realised "microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio"!! so i thought id try to just install the driver again before uninstalling it. AND IT WORKED!! very happy now. i think somehow the driver for the motherboard soundcard was not installed properly or not at all and was clashing with the m-audio.
cheers for the help guys very much appreciated, now back to creating frequencies |

And... seriously... just use the cracked version of SX 3.1.1. I own a legit copy as well, and I never use it. It's embarrassing for Steinberg, but the h20 crack is much more stable than the legit version.

If u carefully read my posts u will find that that was my first option, but it was indirectly stated.. But anyways, now its uncovered..
Orbit, just search for h2o version.. Lot of guys have same problem..

hey guys
still having massive trouble even with the cracked version. tried reinstalling windows from scratch and put in all latest drivers and updates. every trick in the book i have tried, with a few suggestions from cubase forum aswell. also tried uninstalling my mainboard sound, but ive found out it shouldnt be a problem because cubase only uses one driver, and drivers dont clash only IRQ's, ive checked this out and everything seems in order. STILL getting this crash however. im starting to think perhaps dodgy hardware? anyone using a delta 44 on a fairly new system? perhaps its outdated?

hmmm, i decided to test the RAM. just out of the box i know, but it was worth a try, ran each card through the test twice and had nothing. i then did a test, took my delta card out and ran cubase with the mainboard sound going through asio4all. success! well considering my usual tests are timing out after around an hour, i let the mainboard sound run for a good 2 hours and a half and no message. plugged the m-audio back in and recieved the message again after an hour. So it comes down to the soundcard i think.
i asked the m-audio guys whether my card would be compatible with my new setup and they seemed to think so. but theres problems in this, i tested the card in my old machine (where i used this card for a long time) and there was no fault ( i had suspicions that the card was faulty when i switched them over). Ive also took the liberty to search for any IRQ conflicts and everything seems in order (delta 44 on IRQ 20 and mainboard sound on IRQ 17). so this is one baffling scenerio, and perhaps ill just have to try a new soundcard out. Would this type of behaviour be possible with a faulty soundcard? it seems strange because im still getting sound and perfect latency?
so my summer festivities money out the window unless anyone has any better ideas? HEEEEELLLLPPP!!
I think ill run the ram test overnight just to make sure |
