Hey guys! i came here to ask a question about cubase 5.
When im working with samples, for instance the kick, i always select 4 bars of the sequenced sample then i go audio->events to part to make part from the samples i've chosen. But when i do that i found that the length of the part is not exactly matching the 4 bars that i want, insthead its lenght is a bit smaller (because the sample of kick is shorter than 1/4). What i do in this case is to grab the selection tool and manually adjust the part to match the 4 bars. But i've been wondering if theres any function in cubase that do this automaticly. Maybe a function like "adjust part to locators" or something that fits the lenght of my part to the range of the locators.
Thanks in advance, Cheers!

Or you could take the time to make a cubase template with battery. I have done this. It is a lot of clutter in the mixer that much will go unused but battery is such a great tool for layering drums etc. It works quite well for the basic beat of your song. Each battery pad goes to a diff key on the midi of battery and routes to a different audio channel. However I do things like in the project i'm working on I have 3 snares each with their own eq settings and even one with light distortion. Then I have all 3 routed to a group/bus track
however, i've noticed many people just drag and drop the sound files into the window. i see the advantages to this but to me it somehwat interrupts my workflow. http://www.youtube.com/user/trawhi (tutorials)

Create the part FIRST (set the locators to the points where you want the part to start and end, and double-click on an audio track between them), then edit the part (double-click on it) and then sequence your kicks inside it.

Or... after you have placed your kicks where you want them to be, you could set your left and right locators to where you want the part to be. Next doubleclick in the empty space in between the kicks and a box that is exactly the length of the locators will appear. Select the kick drums and the empty box that you just created and use the glue tool. (#5) on your keyboard above the letters.

a nice shortcut is shift+G on a mac..
just mark any part or region and hit shift+G..
cubase will create the locators around the marked part/region and will immediatly start the playback..
cheers
