I think you cant say that something sounds better or worse.
For me they sond as the following
Logic / FlStudio (hollow , crystal clear, glasy, open)
Cubase / Studio One (Thick, Silky, dense, round)
Ableton (no expericne)

for me it s oposite , i find logic warmer and cubase crystal clear.. without real test it s not possible to say as our imagination can influence use as much as what we hear. just the interface and colors could change our sound perception |

I don't look for program that sounds better because they all sounds good , I just try to understand why today more psytrance producers prefer ableton and maybe there is a good reason for that . |

it stretches different tempo loops to the desire tempo in a heartbeat.. thus making it the best loop tool for producers.
i still believe that midi maniacs and old habbit producers prefer logic/cubase/flstudio etc more.
for example my tracks are usually 90% midi till the end.. i use audio only for drums and percussion and some fx that is easier done in audio.
but the rest of the track is still in midi (all vsti ) cos if i need to change something i just do. in ableton i cant do this.. the piano roll sucks and the automaton although extensive and fairly easy is still lacking the speed and flexibility flstudio offers.
as of the sound quality... they all have their weak and strong points but in the end they are all capable of producing great results. its in the user not the app. http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

Live is more fun. And that's what counts more for me.

Guys. Every DAW is viable for production. It's just how you use it.
Phase problems in Cubase ? I don't know, does Infected Mushroom get those too along with all the rest of the cubase users worldwide which include some very amazing world class acts?
Deadmau5 used to use FL Studio, he made amazing sounds. Now he uses Ableton, and is making amazing sounds. He uses VSTs as well.
I really really like Cubase, just might have to get into Ableton soon to make live sets and djing easier.
Honestly though, try out ableton and cubase and if you're on a mac, try logic too. Why not? Figure out which one has the best workflow for you, and stick with it.
I like in Cubase how I can just free record stuff, and I can get my ideas coming together very quickly. In Ableton, for the short time I demo'd it, I wasn't able to get that same feel. Same thing with Fruity Loops. Cubase feels the most organic to me.

I find logic is most user friendly at the highest range of possibilites and sounds superb to my liking the only stuff I get sometimes angry is that this mofo crashes sometimes like any other.
The only but bigggg thing that cubase is way better imo is offline processing.. And this feature is huge.
And for sure Logic will follow this necessearity at some time I hope logic 10 but who knows maybe later.
ok and audio editing is quite enormous in cubase..but now with flex mode etc its actually killer in logic too.
..they all sound soo nice next week cubase is maybe again my favourite haha
..and hey PoM I have the same perceivment..exactly my thaughts.. logic is warmer and cubase is clearer. Or colder? However

hey guys...
i wondered if anyone is using Cakewalks Sonar X1 - it's interface looks very sympathic to me
currently i'm using ableton live & i love it because i get my ideas very fast into it - only the arrangement view isn't really what i'm looking for...
...but, i guess thats only a matter of practice?
so what do you think? switch to another DAW or just learn the functions of Live better?
nice greets from austria

I played with it for some time it's a killer sequencer but I myself don't use it. For me it's just ok to know I could use it anytime.
It's fun to play with Sonar with them controller.
The sequencer itself is pretty advanced.
I'd recommend you to stick to Ableton you said it already you love it so play with it much more often untill you love also the arrangement view.
That is only a matter of practice.

Warm its about effects & harmony .
What you mean clearer .. ? Clear sound its about the producer , His skill and knowledge and his eq machines .
Years ago i had the Logic 5.1 So i know its (With an right work) can be powerful - (Used alot in russia and south america) , But imo less stable (Then Cubase) - At the sound point when you see the all global wide/Larg picture , Also Cubase much more comfortable to work .
Best Cubase ever - Cubase 3 !!!

Hi,
I don'T know how to explain but no matter how I would explain this is only a personal opinion. My subjective realization.. counts not much for the objective.
I'd never claim logic is better or cubase is better, apart if I'm maybe really drunk or stoned to tha last bone but I even than I doubt that I would say one of them is better.
I love them both and its seasonal I change them as my favourites very often They both fantastic proudcts! both from Hamburg btw. But Pro Tools is killer too.And actually all are fantastic I bet I have only a strange barricade against Fruity and this also makes fun and no doubt that it's great when hearing all those great artists.
Atleast when it comes to strictly electronic music.
