If there ever even is a difference it is of such little significance that you don't have to worry about it.

Your sounds, your treatment and your mix are waaaaayyy more important for the final sound.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

Wasn't it Ott that said a few years back that sound wise its Logic<Cubase<Ableton?
In any case, the "worst" sounding DAW is good enough for me.

Peace out.

Ableton had some issues with the warp engine back in the days. but they are gone with version 8.

logic always had better sounding inbuild plugins than cubase..eq etc but thats over as well since vst3 and the new cubase plugins..

@whysolazy..to wich cubase version are you referring to btw?           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Ableton better then Cubase ?

This is like saying elephant fart will be sound more strong then donkey braying .

Ableton cool but sure not better then Cubase/Nuendo/Protool , Maybe better then Fruity Loops not more , But again there no place to comparison so this is all silly . But yes , If you will made an sound engineers (Companys competition) test you will find Ableton there far away behind .

I use now cracked version of cubase5 and want to buy licensed copy .

The reason for starting this discussion is because I see more and more psytrance producers use Ableton live and I wonder maybe this program better for psytrance music production .

I have now the 14 day trial for Ableton live8 but I really don't get how to use this daw , its very different from cubase 5 .

I just want to check another options before I invest 500$+ in software .

i like this new arguments like cubase phase problems or delay compensation errors... ableton sounds better etc etc... love it
i find only 1 important argument when choice a DAW: workflow           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

live was the worst sounding imo with lot of complaints they updated the sound engine in live 7 or 8... it was not sounding better than cubase or logic it s probably placebo cause of the nice gui or maybe personal preference , it s what it s all about in the end but a big part is placebo imo

if these daws are programed to be totally neutral, they shouldnt have any sound, a big part is myth imagination or programing bugs .

I think you cant say that something sounds better or worse.

For me they sond as the following

Logic / FlStudio (hollow , crystal clear, glasy, open)
Cubase / Studio One (Thick, Silky, dense, round)
Ableton (no expericne)

^ I see it similar, you can say what you think it sounds best with an imo at the end. This is fair.
What you can claim at any case though is to say they sound different because this is the common truth.
