Recently cubase started having this problem where a vst or hardware synths midi volume is internally lowered like 50%, i know is midi because if i tweak the midi volume slider which is in its original OFF position to 100 then it sounds again but after a while it happens again then i tweak a little the slider and its back at where it should be...

I have NO IDEA why this is happening :/ any help would be awesome, it is starting to become a pain in the ass.

Sounds like you have unwanted MIDI volume data in one of your MIDI parts. Check it out in the List Editor; if you hide Notes using the filters at the top (you might need to use the Set Up Windows button at the top left to make the filters visible), all you'll see in the editor will be controllers, and the MIDI volume event should make itself quite obvious.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I know this too. This must be what Colin said. You could mute the midi tracks occasionaly ,if you dont know where the midi data comes from, cause sometimes its not easy to find the source if you have outside gear, drivers like eucon(euphonix there lied once my problem) for instance etc... you most probably need only vsti tracks.Well I can be wrong that you dont use midi tracks.. ,but if your data is on vsti tracks(in this song you only edit there maybe) than muting midi tracks helps immediately.

does the problem occur when 'Record Enable' is disabled on the midi tracks?
