It seems that the longer I keep Cubase on, when I record a midi take, the more offset is placed in the piano roll between the play marker & the new note.
Its very odd coz when I start Cubase, the timing is spot on, but a few minutes later, even if I just keep cubase idling, the recording is offset.
Vst response is always 2 millisecs, its just recorded midi takes that are offset.
Anyone know whether this is a cubase problem or simply a prob with my asio drivers on my audigy 2 pro? |

in my mind, this seems logical.
you know how the longer you have your computer on, the slower things run? takes longer to display larger content, generate images, etc... well, this is the same idea. your computer needs a break, i guess. RAM and processing power can only take so much.
but of course, there are other things that can cause this. if anything else, your drivers could be outdated/glitchy/shitty. i had a similar problem once with an old (no-name) MIDI controller. the drivers were no longer updated and it was offset no matter what... and i couldnt update. this COULD be your problem, but i doubt it because its an audigy.
I'm sure someone else has a more educated opinion... bring it.

@ bukboy:
try juggling with the "use system timestamp" option. this can (in some cases) cause the offset.
good luck! |

its not a ram problem. got a gig. also athlon xp 2500+.
this is not a resource prob as No matter how many resources I have spare this is the case. i.e. the longer I keep cubase on the more obvious. every 10 minutes the recording offset falls back another accumulated beat.
Dtd: I tried looking for use system timestamp & even googling for it but it just doesnt exist. u sure this is what its called?
I work with a 2ms latency. no probs. output latency 2.000 ms input latency 3.00? something like that. @ 48khz
Will try download l8st audigy drivers. |

@ bukboy:
- here you go: (freely translated from the german version of cubase..)
devices > configure devices > direct music > use system timestamp (it's a checkbox) (juggle with this option..)
- acpi / standard pc does not really matter (in my opinion) |

Anyway, for other people with no problems playing vsti/fx in realtime but experience latency/offset of notes while recording midi events, check your cubase folder. You'll find a directory that's called midi port enabler.
There's a PDF File, though it's probably written in german. Basically it tells you to put a single file called "ignoreportfilter" without " into your main cubase folder. Create a text file called "ignoreportfilter.txt" and delete the file extension *.txt and you'll be set.
In Cubase, head to preferences - > device preferences -> midi in and you should see your ports either with [emulated] or without that flag. Disable all emulated midi ports and let the default midi ports do their job.
This worked in several situations so I thought this adds to this thread.
Btw: Some users experience better performance with specific midi devices in emulated mode, so beware. |

np, took me some time to figure it out. According to this matter, if this fix doesn't work AND you had a previous installation of sx2, check the sx2 folder for such an entry, it affects sx3 aswell, even if it's uninstalled. |

when i work with sych low latency i have alot of glitches with timing. i run an cubase on an e-mu 1820. 1g of ram and a p4 3.0ghz.
I recomend you work with higher latency, like 7ms
Work like you don't need the money.
