it's up to you to select the INSTRUMENTS that play back data. midi format is just instructions such as "Note ON for this duration with this velocity.... etc." it might have instructions for a specific instrument in General Midi, which is just a default convention. but it's up to some instrument (vsti, built in soundcard synth) to actually convert that data into sounds you can hear. so if you want Sylenth1 for example to play back one of your channels, you have to load it into your sequencer and assign it to one of the midi channels.
anyway, i don't think i'm clear on what exactly you are trying to achieve.

i can use sylenth 1 as u said on to play back my midi channel ... but wat im saying is when i export the part as a midi file , the exported file will play only the piano sound ... no matter wat synth i use the bounced file always plays the piano ... so i want to know wat is the way around this ... to get different sounds from my each midi channel after its bounced ... i also got the edirol hyper canvas if anyone knows how to implement wat im trying to achieve in it let me know ... thanx |

where are you trying to play this back? if you are playing it back in winamp, it'll play back with whatever sounds winamp has built in for midi. if you are playing it back in your sequencer, you can assign which plug in to actually transform midi instructions into audio.
i'm not familiar with logic, so i can't give you specific instructions. but it sounds like a very basic issue and i'd suggest consulting the manual.

i will make it more simple for u to understand .... u must hav heard midi files wit full proper range of instruments ... they will play back on most softwares nearly the same ... perfect example of that is ur built in ringtones in ur nokia fone etc ... now how do i make a midi file like that wit different instruments using cubase or logic ...i want the final file to be a MIDI file not wave or any other format |

gotcha.
when you bounce, it should have notes on different midi channels for your different instruments. so it should still be up to the playing device to play different channels with different instruments.
if you want to specify which instruments should play different parts, then you have to follow some GM standard. that's kind of exactly why it was established back thousands and thousands of years ago (at least it seems like it... shit is ancient).
how you would go about doing that, though, i'm not sure.
whatcha doin, dude, composing a ringtone opera?
