Hi

How can you give a maximum value in cubase to an assigned parameter from you're remote device.

I use nano kontrol where a slider is assigned to volume (mixer) of the kick/bass group channel.

Now where can i set a maximum value in the remote control page,? so that when i move the slider on the nano all the way up (nano=max value) the parameter in de mixer does not exceed a given value (mixer<max value)?

I'm a ableton user learning cubase, in ableton the min and max value boxes are present in the midi setup section.

I've tried Max value(reduced the 127 value ) but i think it is not done this way, also a bit abstract.

i've took a peek here ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/Cubase_4/Docs_English/Remote_Control_Devices.pdf but did not find or looked over the solution.

thx

cubase midi learn is abstract..

one improvement are the quick controls..maybe thats better for you..

thx for the reply zork

but when i reduce the max value 127 parameter it makes the nanoslider more sensitve (by reducing the steps in the total range).

I mean to put a treshold that can not be crossed.

for example i have a bus where the mixer is set on -6db, when i raise the slider of the nano control to the maximum the mixer in cubase should not exceed that -6db.

thx again

hm ok..i know the feature from ableton but actualy thought it was that on the picture, never tried it..

you could still use a limiter instead..

a limiter limits the audio up to a ceratin db value..so tweek it in the right db amount.. -6 or something and the channel would never exceed this value..

its the same as you limit the midi message until this db value is reached..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Its worth a try but i dont know for sure if putting a limiter is the same as midi control values. I think the limiter would shape the sound (squashing it down).

as long as you use a clean limiter and don`t drive it too hot it will work..

Sonnox Limiter is great for that f.e..

thx for the workaround.. i dont think it is possible in cubase to set 2 fixed points in the 127 range to create a region within.

The sliders of nano kontrol are small its hard to be spot on a value.

you could fix your controler with a tape           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

hey,

I've tried but the limiter is no solution. When the nano slider is at max it translates to a max value in the mixer, if i want to limit that signal to -6db (from +6 = max) than the limiter would have to work to hard thus altering the sound to much.

Hehe and sticky tape... i dont know... it will come loose and have to change it every project etc...

Can somebody tell me if this ( max and min midi values) is or isnt possible in cubase ?

Thanks

No i dont have a authorized copy.

maybe one who's interested and have a legit copy would be so kind to post this on steinberg forums and let us know?

Eventually someone will come around and drop the answer.

check out the midi plugs as midi inserts..

there you might find something useful..ill have a look into that as well by time..

those midi plugs are a very big advantage and powerful tools in cubase..compared to other sequencers..
