Cubase Export - Wrong Speed!

I never change my export settings, I must have done hundreds if not thousands of exports from Cubase before - Only twice in all the time I've been using the program has it has exported my song once too fast (chipmunk style!) or once too slow.

Last night a song I was working on exported at 1/3rd the correct speed and turned it into a brilliant psy-dub style chilled tune.

It was so good I've decided to copy my project folder and do a spin-off slow dub remix!

Only problem is.. it exports at the right speed. Is the happy accident export error recreatable?! I know I can slow the song down in an audio app, but the quality didn't seem anywhere near as good as whatever method Cubase used.

Could be a problem with the Hz that it's being exported in/playedback at?           ________________________

Did it change the pitch and the speed together (like slowing down a record) or just the speed?           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

It's done both before, but this time it changed the pitch too. That's what I'm trying to recreate. If all else fails I will just stretch it after mixdown.

I definitely haven't changed any settings, that's why I find it a bit odd.
But I know its a corruption in the file because it only plays in winamp, all other players I have tried it on make a grinding click noise then stop playing.

Sounds like you selected the wrong bitrate - Windows Media Player fails like that when trying to play 24 bit WAVs, it will only play 16 bit WAVs, Winamp will play 24 bit ones.

Slow pitch problems are usually selecting 48 kHz instead of 44 kHz though.

Of course, sounds like you might have done BOTH.

Prolly a sampling fequency or bitrate mismatch within the song, ie, samples of multiple types in use.

render it,
put it in acid,
make the sample 'beatmapped',
open sample properties,
uncheck 'preserve pitch when stretching',
lower the project tempo down to 1/3 of it's original (i mean the tempo you had in cubase),
and render as..

there you go.           extreme
